Depression was associated with apolipoprotein E ε4 allele polymorphism: A meta-analysis
نویسندگان
چکیده مقاله:
Objective(s): Previous studies have reached different conclusions regarding an association between apolipoprotein E (APOE) polymorphisms and depression. This meta-analysis was designed to clarify these controversies. Materials and Methods: Literatures were identified reviewing the national and international databases. The eligible articles for meta-analysis were determined by quality assessment and implementation of inclusion/exclusion criteria. This meta-analysis was performed using Review Manager 5.2 software. The odds ratios (ORs) with corresponding 95% confidence interval (CIs) were calculated using a fixed effects model. Funnel plots and Egger’s regression tests were used to assess the publication bias. Results: A total of nine studies that met the inclusion criteria were identified by performing a comprehensive search on the association between APOE polymorphisms and depression. APOE ε4 allele was significantly associated with depression (allele: OR=1.36, 95%CI=1.11-1.66, P=0.003; dominant: OR=1.34, 95%CI=1.06-1.68, P=0.001; recessive: OR= 1.11, 95%CI =0.45-2.76, P=0.82). HAMD scores were higher in depression patients with-APOE ε4 genotype than who without-APOE ε4 genotype (OR=0.96, 95%CI=0.16-1.76, P=0.02). Conclusion: APOE ε4 allele increased the depression risk; depressive patients carrying APOE ε4 allele had more severe depressive symptoms.

Rs401681 polymorphism in TERT-CLPTM1L was associated with bladder cancer risk: A meta-analysis
Objective(s):Genome-wide association studies have identified a number of genetic variants of telomerase reverse transcriptase (TERT), cleft lip and palate transmembrane1-like (CLPTM1L) associated with the risk of bladder cancer. Rs401681 polymorphism in TERT-CLPTM1L was of special interest for bladder cancer risk, whereas the results were inconclusive. Materials and Methods:Publications illustr...
متن کاملMeta-analysis for the Association of Apolipoprotein E ε2/ε3/ε4 Polymorphism with Coronary Heart Disease
BACKGROUND Coronary heart disease (CHD) is a multifactorial disease and is thought to have a polygenic basis. Apolipoprotein E (APOE) gene is one such candidate with its common ε2/ε3/ε4 polymorphism in CHD. In recent years, numerous case-control studies have investigated the relationship of APOE polymorphism with CHD risk. However, the results are confusing. METHODS To clarify this point, we ...
متن کاملA Meta-Analysis of Apolipoprotein E Gene ε2/ε3/ε4 Polymorphism for Gallbladder Stone Disease
BACKGROUND Numerous studies have investigated the relationship between apolipoprotein (Apo) E gene polymorphisms and gallbladder stone disease (GSD) across ethnic populations; however, the results are often inconsistent. This meta-analysis aims to comprehensively evaluate the influence of a common ε2/ε3/ε4 polymorphism in Apo E gene on the risk of gallbladder stone disease. METHOD Data were a...
متن کاملA FDG-PET Study of Metabolic Networks in Apolipoprotein E ε4 Allele Carriers.
Recently, some studies have applied the graph theory in brain network analysis in Alzheimer's disease (AD) and Mild Cognitive Impairment (MCI). However, relatively little research has specifically explored the properties of the metabolic network in apolipoprotein E (APOE) ε4 allele carriers. In our study, all the subjects, including ADs, MCIs and NCs (normal controls) were divided into 165 APOE...
متن کاملApolipoprotein E ε4 allele and malondialdehyde level are independent risk factors for Alzheimer’s disease
BACKGROUND The ε4 allele of Apolipoprotein E is involved in lipid metabolism. Oxidative stress produces an increase in lipid peroxidation that has been implicated in the pathogenic cascade in Alzheimer's disease. This study estimated the effect of the ε4 allele, malondialdehyde and lipid levels on the risk for Alzheimer's disease. METHODS A total of 41 control subjects and 73 patients with Al...
